St. Michael’s Hospital is a leader in community-based health care and an outstanding teaching and research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. Comprised of several wings interconnected with tunnels, the hospital’s total gross floor area is more than 1.2 million square feet.

Entro developed a comprehensive wayfinding system for the hospital, consolidating what were formerly six wings into four wings with a more strongly defined traffic artery. Entro renamed the four wings to correspond with the facility’s four street entrances, simplifying navigation through the complex facility.

Entro also worked with the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation. As part of their donor recognition protocol, Entro worked with the foundation to define specific facilities within the hospital for naming opportunities. Entro provided a customized donor recognition strategy that married itself with the overall wayfinding program, achieving a sense of consistency throughout the facility.
